The fall trend I am most excited about is rattan and other woven textures. I am seeing many woven lighting fixtures, furnishings, and accessories for this season. They add a beautiful ambiance of warmth and texture to a modern space. I also appreciate a little bohemian flare. This trend is 100% my style!

In airplanes and homes alike, the window seat is the most envied place to be. They are a fantastic place to soak in the natural light. I have rounded up some photos of my favorite window seats for inspiration. One thing I love about window seats is that they are not exclusive to one type of interior style. As you will see below, these can be incorporated into modern spaces, traditional, transitional, quirky, etc.
Ways to Incorporate Black Into Your SpaceRecently as I was doing my nightly scroll through Pinterest, I noticed that I was consistently pinning any photo that featured black, dramatic accents. This was so strange for me! I love light, white, bright, anything that looks open and clean. I realized, after looking back through the photos I had just pinned, that I was being drawn to the drama. Having black accents gives you space a focal point. It gives your space some "umph" (one of my favorite words when I am at a loss for the perfect term). I wanted to share with you all what I found!
I am currently working on a summer internship to finish up my degree. Mine is with a very talented designer, Rachel Hunt. She works for a company that renovates residential and commercial buildings in the Chattanooga area, and I basically get to be her assistant all summer. I asked her the other day if she had updated her portfolio with recent projects. It's so hard to keep projects up to date on your website, so I decided to help her out. We were working on hanging a gallery wall at a loft home she had recently renovated. I took some time to stage the loft and take photos for her to document her work. The home features an industrial style with exposed brick walls in almost every room. Mixed with some sheet rock walls, it is a nice balance between a transitional and urban look. I love the wide plank hardwood floors - they are +/- 10" wide! I have two favorite rooms in this house and here is the first - the master bathroom! It has a really cool (for lack of a better word) chandelier over the bath tub with hexagon tiles in the shower and a granite tub surround. I love the rustic contemporary look that is trendy without being over the top. I was even inspired by the farmhouse plumbing fixtures. Some interesting details include a faux finished ceiling paired with large floor tiles installed diagonally to tie the floor and ceiling together. I asked Rachel about the brick walls in here wondering if she had done something to make the brick look so weathered, but this is just how the brick was when they began the project which I love. Any time you can leave something in its original state and fit the style, you should do it! This is my second favorite room - the nursery! I love the brick in this room as it is something so unexpected for a baby's room. Pink is such a typical color for this application but paired with the brick wall, it is new and exciting. Out of every nursery I have seen on pinterest and elsewhere, this has been my favorite. As I walked through this home for my first time, I kept noticing little things that stood out to me. Rachel paid so much attention to every little detail that went in to this home and it definitely shows. I wish the pictures did it justice!
